ACHIEVEMENTS IN SPORTS AND CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

DEBATE

Viknesh Kumar, Cheong Chin Taw, Muhammad Daniel and Calvin Teng took the school to greater heights when they proved their prowess in the 'Piala Jemputan UIAM 2003'. The foursome outmatched every other participating school to emerge as champions at the University Islam Antarabangsa MAlaysia on the 27th-31st of Mac 2003. Selected schools from all over MAlaysia participated in this prestigious event.

BASKETBALL

In the recent MSSMPP basketball tournament, our school team beat all odds and was placed fourth. The students that took part were: Goh Jen Keat(Captain), Teoh Ching Yong, Williwm Quah, Eric Tan, Ho Boon Wei, Hideaki Yoshida, Chuah Kok Keong, Teh Wee Wen, Raymond Lee, David Tan, Teoh Wee Li and Ng Chi Hwa.

CHESS

In the MSSMPP chess championship team event, our school's under-15 team, which was made up of Gooi Yi Xiang, Melvin Ang, Ryan Kam, Andrew Tan, Tan Kok Ling and Lee Kean Ming, made their mark by getting second place.
The under-18 team on the other hand managed to get third place. They were:Chong Yow Fung, Yeo Eng Seang, Benjamin Tan, Loke Hau Choon, Tan Hoe Keat and Michael Koh.
In the singles event, Gooi Yi Xiang from 3A1 was the first runner-up.

SQUASH

The "Kejohanan Squash MSSPP" was held on the 15th of April 2003 and lasted till the 16th of April 2003. Elvin Keo took the school to new heights when he won the gold medal in the under-15 singles men's event that was held at the Penang International Squash Centre.
Once again Elvin Keo returned home victorious after participating in the MSSM Squash event held in Kuala Lumpur on the 3rd of June till the 7th of June. He took home the championship for the under-16 category.

Look out Ian Thorpe, these young swimmers are torpedoing your way! Liew Kah Hoong, Lee Ning Khang, Reagen Kang, Kenneth Yeoh, seng chun Quan, Denis Ng and Andy Chong did the school proud when thwy entered the P.A.S.A State Swimming Championship and bagged an impressive number of medals. Liew Kah Hoong was also awarded the 'Best Swimmer' after breaking the 50m butterfly event record.

Kejohanan Renang SUKPEN I 2003
In the Kejohanan Renang SUKPEN I 2003, Liew Kah Hong did the school proud by winning 2 gold medals in the under-20 category.His fellow swimmers, Seng Chun Quan(1 silver and 1 bronze), Denis Ng(1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze) and Seow Hsiang Lin(1 silver) also brought glory to the school.

MSSM 2003
Date : 2nd-6th of June 2003
Venue : Pusat Akuatik Shah Alam, Selangor
In this year's MSSM championships, our school's water polo team, which consisted of Lee Ning Khang, Liew Kah Hoong, Lee Jun Xian and Seow Hsiang Lin, managed to win a bronze medal.
However, two silver medals were obtained in the 4 X 100m mixed relay event and the 4 X 100m freestyle by our school representative Denis Ng.

BOWLING

State Level MSSMPP Bowling Championship
In the "Kejohanan Bowling MSSMPP Peringkat Negeri", our school was named the best school in the Under-15 Category.Our school's repreedntative, Andrian Ang from 3A6 won 4 gold medals and 1 silver medal. His team-mate, Andrian Charles Dragon from 3A3 bagged 3 gold medals and 2 silver medals. Their companions Jared Chan, 2A3, and Stefen Loo, 2A4, also won a gold medal each.

Peter Yap's Memorial Cup Bowling Championship
In this championship, which was held at Piramid Bowl, Selangor from the 20th-24th of January 2003, Andrian Charles Dragon once again brought glory to our school by being named champion of the open event.

TAEKWONDO

MTA/WTF CHAMPIONSHIP 2003
The SXI Taekwondo Club was awarded the title Best Secondary Male School for the MTA/WTF Championship 2003. The tournament was held at Dewan Kompleks Silat Negeri, Batu Uban, Pulau Pinang. The results are:

16th Traditional Taekwondo Academy Championship 2003
Leonard Khor and Bernard Ong brought home the gold medal in the team event during the "16th Traditional Taekwondo Academy Championship 2003. "In the team free sparring eventm, they won the the silver medal.

9th Northern Peninsular Malaysia School Level Taekwondo(GTF) Championship
In the Taekwondo(GTF)Championship at the school level, Lee Yin Huey from U6A4 bagged one gold and one bronze medal. She won the gold medal in the women's open black belt category and the bronze medal in the women's secondary school senior belt event.

KARATE

13th National Junior & Cadet Karate Championship
The 13th National Junior & Cadet Karate Championship was held at Stadium Indera Mulia, Ipoh, Perak on the 1st of May 2003 until the 4th of May 2003. Two Xaverians represented the state in the two events and managed to come home with a clean sweep of 2 gold medals.Victor Goh from L6Sc1 defended his title as the Champion of the Male's Cadet Individual Kata event.Cheah Boon Chong from U6A3 later teamed up with Victor Goh to bring home the gold medal for the Male's Junior Indivual Kata. Penang turned out to be the overall 1st runner-up though out the championship with a total of 10 gold medals, 3 silver & 8 bronze medals.

World Karate Championship
The World Karate Championship was held on the 3rd and 4th of August in Karlstad, Sweden.Malaysia was among the 21 countries which participated in this tournament. After gruelling preparations, their hardwork paid off by emerging as overall champion with 13 golds and 3 silvers. Cheah Boon Chong from U6A3 was one of the members in the Malaysian Team. He represented the country in the team kata and individual kata event. He won a gold and silver medal respectively.

23rd National Karate Championship
The National Karate Championship was held in Cheras from the 14th-15th of June. Our hero, Cheah Boon Chong once again made our school proud by representing Goshin-Ryu Karate and managed to grasp one gold medal and one bronzze medal in the team kata and individual kata events respectively.

WUSHU

In the Wushu competition sponsored by Rakan Muda which was held at the Swastika Hall, Penang, Chew Yu Jin won the silver medal in the Nan Dao, Nan Quan and Nan Kun eventse also obtained the silver medal in the Nan Quan event during the wushu competition organised by the Wushu, Lion and Dragon Dance Assocation.
Koh Su Yang from 1A2 was a silver medalist in the Pak Kua Dao event and a bronze medalist in the Nan Kun event.
Kevan Cheah on the other hand won a gold medal in the Nan Quan event and a bronze in the Dao Shu event during the wushu competition held by the Wushu, Lion and Dragon Dance Association.

TENNIS

In the Sportexcel-Milo-NSC-MSSM championship, Brendon Choong came home as the first runner-up in the boys under -16 doubles category.The championship was held on the 28th of February at Kelana Jaya, Selangor.
In the Penang closed Championshipm, Philip Wong emerged as champion in the under-14 singles and doubles category. Kenneth Yeoh and his team-mate Dinesh Dharma emerged as the under-14 doubles runner-up. Brendon Choong won the gold medal for the under-16 singles event and doubles event. Benjamin Tan made his mark after taking home the gold medal in the under-18 singles event.
