THE PRINCIPAL'S NEW MESSAGE FOR 2013
The Home-Coming Dinner on 15th December 2012 marked another momentous event and the grand finale for the 160th Anniversary Celebration of the De La Salle Brothers in Asia. I take this opportunity to thank the Chairman, Mr. Neoh Dian Bin, and his committee members for their splendid effort and dedication in making this year-long celebration a great success.
The year-end term holidays will be ending soon and our pupils will be back to school on 2nd Jan. 2013. The public examinations such as the SPM and the STPM examinaations have just ended. Now, we are busily preparing the school programmes and the academic calendar for the year 2013.
A warm welcome to 285 primary pupils to our Form One this coming year. My humble thanks to all the parents who have great trust and confidence in us, in educating their children. For this reason, it behoves us, as educators at SXI, to continue doing our best in nurturing and helping our pupils delvelop their talents and potential to the fullest.
The MBMMBI program which was launched last year is running smoothly, along with teaching of Science and Mathematics in English. We will continue to do so until such stipulated time before the total switch to BM comes into effect.
PBS (School Based Assessment) for Form One which was introduced in early 2012 will continue into Form Two next year. Being a new assessment program, our teachers definitely encountered teething problems at the beginning. Somehow, with perseverance, our teachers could cope well. With the feedback given to the PPD Timur-Laut and JPN Pulau Pinang, I hope that all these problems will be minimised if not completely resolved when PBS enters into its second year of implementation next year.
With the educational blue print in place, we as teachers and administrators, are poised to face the challenges and the eleven shifts mentioned in the blue print. Never before in the history of our education have the teachers' calibre, professionalism and creativity become so vital.
As the principal of this school, I would give top priority to professional training and upgrading teaching skills as well as promoting innovative and creative culture in the school at all levels. I pray that the achievements of the school in various fields will rise to greater heights and the La Sallian values will continue to be instilled in our pupils.
Let us live up to the school motto "LABOR OMNIA VINCIT" in the course of dispensing our work and duties to the school and to the nation.

Majlis makan malam "Home-Coming" pada 15bh Disember 2012 menandakan satu lagi peristiwa bersejarah dan acara penutup bagi sambutan Ulang Tahun ke-160 De La Salle Brothers di Asia. Saya mengambil kesempatan ini untuk mengucapkan "terima kasih" kepada pengerusi, Encik Neoh Dian Bin dan ahli jawatankuasa beliau kerana telah berusaha menjayakan kesemua program yang amat bermakna bagi sambutan ini sepanjang tahun 2012.
Cuti penghujung tahun akan berakhir tidak lama lagi dan para pelajar akan kembali ke sekolah pada 2hb Januari 2013. Peperiksaan awam seperti SPM dan STPM baharu sahaja berakhir. Sekarang, kami sibuk menyediakan program sekolah dan kalendar untuk tahun akademik 2013.
"Selamat Datang" pihak sekolah ucapakan kepada 285 orang pelajar sekolah rendah yang akan memasuki Tingkatan 1 pada tahun hadapan. "Terima kasih" juga kami ucapakan kepada ibu bapa yang memberi kepercayaan kepada kami dalam membimbing dan mendidik anak muda ini. Atas keyakinan mereka, kami, para pendidik di SXI, akan terus menjalankan tugas dan tanggungjawab kami dengan penuh dedikasi untuk mengembangkan bakat dan potensi yang terpendam dalam diri mereka.
Program MBMMBI yang dilancarkan pada tahun lalu berjalan dengan lancar bersama-sama dengan pengajaran Science dan Mathematics dalam bahasa Inggeris. Kami akan terus berbuat demikian sehingga suatu masa dalam mana kedua-dua pelajaran ini akan diajar dalam bahasa Melayu berikutan ketetapan Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia.
PBS (Penilaian Berasaskan Sekolah) untuk Tingkatan 1 yang telah diperkenalkan pada tahun ini akan diteruskan ke Tingkatan 2 pada tahun 2013. Memandangkan program ini merupakan cara penilaian baru, guru-guru kami menghadapi sedikit masalah pada mulanya. Walau bagaimanapun, atas usaha yang berterusan, kebanyakan kemusykilan dapat diatasi. Melalui maklum balas yang diberikan kepada pihak PPD Timur-laut dan JPN Pulau Pinang, saya berharap semua masalah ini akan dapat diatasi apabila PBS memasuki tahun kedua implementasinya.
Dengan pelaksanaan Pelan Pembangunan Pendidikan (Malaysia Education Blueprint), kami, pentadbir dan pendidik di SXI, bersedia menghadapi cabaran dan sebelas perubahan yang disebutkan dalam pelan tersebut. Dengan pelancaran pelan pembangunan ini, profesionalisme, kaliber dan kreativiti para guru semakin penting. Sebagai pengetua sekolah ini, saya akan memberi keutamaan kepada latihan profesional dan peningkatan kemahiran P&P serta menggalakkan inovasi dan budaya kreatif dalam semua peringkat pendidikan.
Saya berdoa agar pencapaikan sekolah dalam pelbagai bidang akan meningkat ke tahap yang lebih tinggi dan nilai-nilai murni La Sallian akan terus dipupuk dalam diri para pelajar kami.
Marilah kita berpaksikan moto "LABOR OMNIA VINCIT" dalam melaksanakan tugas dan tanggungjawab kita terhadap sekolah dan negara.
